SUPERMODELS, VIEWS AND A WATER CRISIS
When Elena Davis talks, its impossible not to listen,“Austin has nearly 2000 homeless and only SIX water fountains."
Ever been to Texas in the summer? Yeah, six water fountains aren’t enough.
The I am Waters Austin Supermodel Lunch was in a pavilion over looking Lake Travis, basically, it was like being on Lake Como without the airfare and jet lag. About as far removed as one could be from the homeless – and yet, Elena made the crisis real. Bringing stats, stories and survivors to the serene location made sure there weren’t a lot of dry eyes in the house.
Oh, and did I mention there were actual Supermodels there –amazing, warm, brilliant women, passionate about supporting I AM WATERS.
And, as a fundraiser, I gotta tell ya – Elena fearlessly and frankly made the ask – that crucial part of any fundraiser. So I am going to do the same here.
I AM WATERS delivers water and messages of hope to those who need it most. Seriously, when was the last time you saw a water fountain? Delivering across the South and now into New York City, I Am Waters is filling a need that most don’t even realize exists.
FACT:THE AVERAGE AGE OF A HOMELESS PERSON IN THE U.S. IN NINE.
FACT: TWO-THIRDS OF HOMELESS PEOPLE REPORTED NOT HAVING ACCESS TO CLEAN DRINKING WATER.
FACT:1 IN 4 HOMELESS PEOPLE ARE VETERANS.
