3 Ways to Rock Red for Women's Heart Health Month
Red is one of my favorite colors. Not only is it universally flattering, but it conveys strength and reminds me of my vivacious grandmother, who was one of the strongest women I knew, was always impeccably dressed and absolutely loved the color red.
Nana passed away from heart disease and that’s why the American Heart Association’s campaign Go Red For Women hits home and is truly an amazing organization. So for the rest of the month honor your heart, embrace the color of love and wear red in these fun, noticeable ways:
MAKE RED A FOCAL POINT
Red makes a strong and fabulous statement. A red knit dress or red pants with a denim jacket and black boots/booties is great for daytime; while a red cocktail dress is always a great look for the evening. Finish your evening look with simple open toed metallic heeled sandals, great gold statement earrings and a cocktail ring.
Red pairs amazingly well with neutrals such as camel, black and navy. A killer red top paired with wide leg pants and flirty heels is an outfit that is sure to impress. You can also be even bolder by juxtaposing red with other bright colors. It’s always a good idea to embrace your inner Carrie Bradshaw, with a fun pop of turquoise and red, every now and then.
For those who prefer subtlety, try red accessories. A red heel, bag (tote or clutch), coat or scarf will provide that perfect sophisticated color pop. Make your red “evening” pieces, like a Judith Leiber velvet or jeweled clutch, stand out with distressed jeans and a white or black top.
