Designers We Love: Chanel
Our designer spotlight this week is Chanel. The Chanel brand is synonymous with high style. Coco Chanel herself was a visionary force that propelled some of the most innovative ideas behind the fashions that women love to wear today.
Did you know ...
...Coco Chanel is responsible for the wardrobe staple otherwise known as the LBD? The little black dress became the uniform for the modern woman in the early 20th century.
... Coco Chanel was ahead of her time in the athleisure trend that is popular today? Chanel's trouser designs and use of jersey fabrics in her collections were a harbinger of women's desire for their clothing to be both stylish and functional.
Just as Coco Chanel changed fashion in significant ways, we here at Union & Fifth are changing the way women relate to the concept of fashion. By reducing the focus on fast fashion and fleeting trends, we aim to emphasize the value of a timeless yet modern wardrobe. Our mission is simple: to raise money for amazing non-profits by selling donated, gently worn designer clothes. In 2012, when we cleaned out our first closet, we were able to equip a large computer lab for one of our favorite non-profits and the idea for Union & Fifth was born. We are a non-profit retailer with a vision: fashion as a force for good.
Coco Chanel is famous for the following quotes:
"The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud."
Purchase one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories at Union & Fifth, make your own unique fashion statement and generate money for other non-profits. Clean out your closet for us using one of our donation kits, choose the charity you want the sale to benefit and feel good knowing your charitable contribution helped those in need. Now that's a fashion statement!
"Fashion is made to become unfashionable."
We understand the cyclical nature of retail and the ebb and flow of trends. Shop with us to build a closet of timeless and chic wardrobe pieces that will coordinate with the trend du jour.
"Fashion that does not reach the street is not fashion."
Union & Fifth appreciates how you shop. You're inspired by the runway, the lookbook or the street style and are compelled to turn those statements into your own unique and wearable ensemble. That's why we keep a diverse collection of high-fashion designs sure to satisfy a range of looks.
"I don't do fashion. I am fashion."
If there's one thing we desire for our customers its that we want you to own it, ladies! Shop with us, donate and help elevate fashion as a force for good!
