Nicholas K Revolutionizes Sustainable Fashion

Nicholas K, a design company conceptualized by brother/sister duo, Nicholas and Christopher Kuntz, animated the fashion scene this month by putting their own spin on a rather unfortunate event in their lives. For the last two seasons, Nicholas K has brought to the runway a stellar blend of sustainable fabrics, blended natural fibers, and incredible layered designs inspired by ecology. However, this year, the design company lost much of their archived collection in a fire at their showroom and design studio. This unfortunate event could have been the end to their participation in this seasons NYFW, but the spirited team leveraged their tech know-how and took their ready-to-wear collection to the masses. They launched their Spring 2018 collection on social media – by way of their Instagram account, to be specific:

The huddled masses are getting front row seats at this amazingly innovative concept. Nicholas K dropped their CFDA/Lexus Eco Fashion Challenge Finalist collection on IG one photo at a time. This stunning collection holds true to designer’s (Nicholas) vision – melding masculinity and feminism with an eye for the eclectic and multi-cultural concept influenced by the siblings shared love of travel and their diverse upbringing. Nicholas K is not shy about its commitment to sustainability – shooting at a luxury eco-friendly resort in the owners’ home state of Arizona. The designs are progressive and utilitarian while finding a softening in the natural dyes, diverse silhouettes, and creative layering. I am jumping out of my seat in excitement about this collection. This socially-minded duo is on a great path and I, for one, cannot wait to see many other designers move in the direction of equity and sustainable-minded approaches for the fashion industry.
